Court and Medical Interpreting Instructors

The New Mexico Center for Language Access (NMCLA) is seeking court and medical interpreting instructors to join its team. Positions are temporary/part time for an online non-credit program. Weekly workload ranges from 2 to 10 hours depending on the position and course. All languages and out-of-state interpreters are welcome to apply.

NMCLA is an interdisciplinary/multilingual/multicultural program of the University of New Mexico, Los Alamos Branch in collaboration with the NM Administrative Office of the Courts and University of New Mexico Hospital. NMCLA offers multilingual interpreting certificate programs through a model that combines online courses with a face-to-face mentorship/internship.

Essential duties and responsibilities:

  • Teach and manage course content and platform.
  • Provide feedback to students.
  • Collaborate with other faculty.

Skills & Abilities:

  • Ability to effectively collaborate with other faculty, students, and University administration.
  • Knowledge of online learning platform and methodology preferred.
  • Excellent written skills in their language pair.
  • Ability to create an enthusiastic and motivating online learning environment.
  • Strong computer skills.

Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree or higher required.
  • Experience in teaching at college or university level required.
  • State or federal certification required for those for whom certification in their language pair is available.
  • Experience in online teaching preferred.

Hourly rate $32.00. Best consideration date: March 12th Open until filled.
